Please could someone tell at how many days should I be able to tell if a goose egg is fertile? It is white and though thick shelled can see clearly with torch. Thanks! Ros

Thanks Davidd- I thought it might take a bit longer with huge eggs! Ros

I thought Godzilla-The-Goose-Egg had perished---but no, its internally pipped, moving and scratching about!(day32) I understand goslings quite often need help after pipping as probs.hatching in incubator. After how long, once pipped ,should I consider a bit of gentle shell removal -24hrs if no progress?? Any tips/advise welcome .Its been in there so long it would be really nice if it could survive hatching.

Hi, i would leave it alone- trying to help them out too early- is not good- they can take 48 hours or more from pipping- once pipped externally try to up the humidity to 75-80% and leave alone- if it's not hatched in 48 hours you can then try and help a little- too early and the yolk sac will not be absorbed- good luck, just dont expect them to hatch as quick as chickens- they dont!
regards, David
