Can hens eat millet?

Whilst buying corn for the girls the other day, I bought a sprig of millet. Is it safe to tie this up in the run for the girls to peck at?

Seems so as I sweep up large amounts of fallen from the feeders wild bird seed and feed it to the chickens. It contains millet, they love it and it does not harm them.

We buy chick sized mixed corn as the adult fowl corn is too big (not ground at all) and lasts seconds. The chick stuff contains millet and they eat every tiny piece -none have been ill yet.
