I purchased a 5 kg bag to feed a pheasant chick which only lived for 2 days-courtesy of my cat bringing it home. As only a very small amount was used can I give it to my hens-maybe during or after their moult? I dont want to waste it and have no chicks to give it to.

I would mix it in with their food whilst they are moulting, rather than giving it to them 'neat.' They might appreciate the high protein content when making new feathers and not laying. If you gave some in a mash they would get it without all the little crumbs ending up at the base of the feeder. As you say, no need to waste it.
I can't remember if you have any quails - it would be very good for them.
