Hi,
My call ducklings were due to hatch on wednesday but still nothing. They are under their mothers and I've candled some of them and think I can see them moving. The eggs look like they should but why are they so late? The girls went broody on the same day. I'm worried that they might all die in their shells.
Help.

Hello, if they are fertile they will hatch when ready- the duck might not have sat tight for the first couple of days - give them a little longer.
regards, David :)

Thanks David,
After I posted my message this morning I went out and the mallards 3 eggs (only 3 out of 14 she laid were fertile-lucky the boys a pet and not for showing) have internally pipped and I could feel the ducklings moving inside. I think the silver's eggs (she's sitting on 10) will be a few days behind from candling them this morning.
Very exciting.

Here's the first three!

My other call duck is still sitting on 10 fertile eggs! They are now 10 days late in hatching. What are the chances that any are going to hatch now?
I'll be so disappointed if nothing hatches, more for the poor girl who's sat on them for over a month!!

There still seems to be movement in some of them. I'll bide my time.
Cheers

Two have hatched. A few more have pipped. 11 days late - unbelievable.
