My runner drake has a very large, painful growth under his foot. The vet didn't think it was typically bumblefoot looking, but felt there was little choice but to open it up. Inside was just a solid cartilage type substance - literally just like bone. Definitely not pus.
The vet was at a loss what to do, and all that could be done in the end was to stitch him up and dress him. Anyone come across this kind of thing before please? Any advice, as things aren't looking to good for him at the moment :(

Welcome to the forum Wotsupduck. We've had 'verrrucas' in the feet of our chickens -a fungal infection introduced from bumblefoot I think. They are quite solid and grow around the pad of the foot, but not hard as such. Those I have cut open and pulled out. Sounds like your duck has a piece of cartilage that has simply become dislodged and grown. I'm surprised the vet didn't try to remove it back to leave just the pad. Alternatively it way be a bone overgrowth, in which case there is little to be done except surgery. Humans get them as well.
