Hi guys my little girl has developed bumble foot, they have been on rough story ground for months now while gardenia getting renovated, little did I no it would cause issue with feet, I only noticed it last week. After bit of research. It was of to the vets, to be honey I notices last week but think it's been there a lot longer as its so bad, the vet says it is pretty developed, if it's infected the bone it's not good news, but even if it hasn't it's not good. She mite die :((((((( seriously:((((. He seems fine in he self just these stupid things in her feet, she is now on anti biotics for a week to see how things improve , check pictures any feedback an reassurance f there is any to give will be great, thanks

I would think she will be fine if the infection hasn't got into the bone as the vet says. They are not that bad compared to some we've had and which have recovered with a change of ground and without antibiotics. So fingers crossed for you Paddy.

I hope she will be fine I'll be heart broken f anything happens to her, the vets talking about an operation costing 400 pound to cut it out????

Hi Paddy :) Welcome back! Sorry to hear that your baby has this condition. I would try not to worry too much, as this is very very common in ducks and yes in extreme cases it can be cut out. £400.00 seems steep for that operation, perhaps if it comes to that you could seek another vet who may be cheaper? Get her on nice soft ground. At night I use a thick foam pad covered in shavings and straw, perhaps you could get something similar? Cushioned floor mats for kids and yoga or horses work well.

I hope she will be ok.. Thanks for re assurance it's good to here.... She's on her pain killers and anti biotics , put a big thick plastic sheet down were they are during the day (that was rubble) an at nite time they sleep on astro turf. Hope she gets better

Anyone have anything new to say ?? Her foot is stil same after her anti biopics and being on smoother ground.

is she limping? The lanolin barrier will help prevent infection and soften up the hard tissue

I'm not experienced in this Paddy, but I see you said that you put a "big thick plastic sheet down were they are during the day (that was rubble) an at nite time they sleep on astro turf." Dorsetduckowner advised "Get her on nice soft ground. At night I use a thick foam pad covered in shavings and straw, perhaps you could get something similar? Cushioned floor mats for kids and yoga or horses work well."

IMH a plastic sheet and Astro turf don't equate to the advice given - maybe you need to get it
REALLY soft underfoot for her if you haven't already done so.

I think when they say better ground they mean get them off the sharp story rubble, AstroTurf is very soft, the one we have is anyway, softer than a rubber may an yoga mats for sure, thanks anyway

Hi Zoe, she isn't really limping now , maybe a little now an again but not noticeable really

I've been applying savlon on her 2 bumble foots once in morning and once at night for last 1 week, changed beding to thick layer or straw. And put 2mm thick rubber tarpolling with hay in one corner which she mainsly on. it's defiantly changed. Weather it's worse or better am unsure the black scab is sort of lifting off more an sometimes abit falls off, unsure what's gonna be under there I would like to think new skin sealed, but it maybe open wound which prob is bad specially for infection, I'll get pics up here tomoz an compare against pics from before treatment see what use all think. Thanks guys. She is walking on it fine thou
