Well, 7 weeks down the line and mum is still brooding the 2 remaining chicks. I managed to rehome 2 of the boys (boo hoo, my favourite one too) and so only girl and last boy left.
Mum is still calling to chicks with food and they respond and is also tucking them under her wings at night. She is making no attempt to leave them, so not in a hurry to move her on.
My question is about growers pellets. Mum is moulting, not laying and doesn't look like she's going to. I've started weening the chicks onto growers pellets this week. Is this bad for mum, good in the short term as she's moulting, or is the food causing her to moult?
