Hello
I 've had 2 Pekins broody for a month, but they have been so fidgity the eggs were kicked out of the nest box, and none have hatched. (One of them was always sitting).I have a batch in the incubator due tomorrow. Would it be wise to give the chicks to the broodies? (They are still sitting-on nothing). Will they believe them to be their own. or is it more likely they will attack them?
Thanks

You should be able to put the chicks under the broodies. Slip them under so the hen can't see them when you put them in. I'd put an egg under each so to keep the broodies up so they don't squash the chicks & it might be best to give them an egg each to hatch before you put the chicks in. Keep a close watch as there's sometimes a bit of fighting over the chicks.

Thanks very much. 3 pipping this morning. Should I put one under the broody?

i do it all the time ihave had a silke that went broody last week my incy was due on last saturday she now is looking after 22 chicks i just kept putting them under her as they hatched out in thr incubator

iv a duckling just hatched in inc do you think my broody will take a couple of them she has 6 bantam chicks 4 days old

She may not as she may realise they're not her own. There's no point in risking it if you don't have to.
