I have only just been able to catch up with new postings because my broadband has been down for 5 weeks! We only got it back yesterday. We made 15 calls to the 'help' desk in india which was a complete waste of time. We were then sent a new router, but still wouldn't work! We have had a BT engineer visit twice and finally it seems it is working (but now sure for how long)! I tried to use my phone for web browsing, but decided that I probably need to go to Specsavers!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)09

It's nice to be able to catch up with everything that has been going on though!

The BT helpdesk is a nightmare Sue. I wondered what had happened with just your infrequent visits. Assumed you were doing the garden after the rains stopped. They reset the passwords several times when we had problems and our Outlook had 2000 emails to delete that came from Yahoo. Then Outlook wouldn't work. I threatened a formal complaint and all of a sudden it worked again. Suspect they had blocked it !!!!

Don't talk to me about BT helpdesk they are just awful!...I get a bad twitch just thinking about them! :o :-)06

Hopefully you have it sorted now though Sue! :D

My broadband supplier is actually Orange, but they couldn't solve the problem and so called BT. I learned a good tip whilst trying to solve this nightmare and that was to ring up and select the number to get through to billing and then select the number 'if you are thinking of leaving'! This then gets you through to someone in England who tries to keep you by promising to sort out your problem and reduce your monthly payments!!! I ended up getting £2 reduction per month and two months free. I've now got a new router and new wiring into the house, so it all turned out ok in the end, but was a very stressful process to get here!

In desperation we even went into an Orange shop and asked for help. The person there rang Orange herself and got so infuriated with them that she put the phone down in the end! She couldn't get any sense out of them either!

The call centre people wouldn't listen to anything we said to try and explain what was happening and we have since learned that they work to a strict script and don't speak much English away from this script! Now it all makes sense as to why we weren't making any progress!

Chris, I have been working in the garden as it happens! We're creating a wildlife garden and pond, so have been spending all my 'surfing' time in the sunshine. No, it's nowhere near the hens before anyone asks so they can't eat all our wildlife plants or go swimming in the pond! :D

I think they would like to swim in your pond in this weather Sue!

Actually I'm beginning to wish we'd put a swimming pool in instead of a wildlife pond!!!!!!!!! :-)07
