I have just been lent a brinsea 20 egg incubator with no instructions.I presume the eggs are set point side down and not flat. It has with it only two plastic separators.
My own simple incubator has the eggs laid on there side. I presume this incubator will accept the eggs point end down. Does anyone know if placing the eggs in egg boxes would wok or would it much up the humidity.
By the way it has the tilting device

Here's a link to some pics on a site that sells them ... they don't quite seem to be on thier sides ?

If I can, I pop them on their sides, push comes to shove and have a full incy then pointy end down! :D If you look at how a broody hen arranges her eggs they are usually on their side ;)

i've got the brinsea advance and i set them pointy end down, just had a hatch with 7 out of 8 eggs hatched, got it full up with 26 eggs now just need to wait till 1st of april

:-)02 *cough* erm... I'm being a bit slow here. It must be obvious but I'm puzzled ...... How do you turn an egg that is "pointy end down" ? - Asuming you don't turn it on it's airsack end ? Is it that they are set at a diagonal tip down and therefore can be turned ? :-)05 ... :-)19

Aha ! :-)07 They rest against eachother on the diagonal as in the picture.......

It would make for boring posts if I actualy put on my glasses or engaged my brain before starting a post :-)10

with mine being an advance it has an autoturn cradle

Cool :-)17 I'm already regreting getting the one I have just got. It's hard to turn the eggs and the light flashes brightly all the time. I just remind myself of the rewards when they hatch, each time I fumble with my eggs.

I only set them on Sat .... Perhaps there's a "knack" I haven't got yet

The fully auto Brinsea Octagons are nice machines, I use them for the hatching at schools with good results. If you want the instructionsfor the Brinsea let me know I will scan them and email it to you
