hello!
Our two new hens and cockerel have been introduced with the three older hens. Everything is okay, except the cockerel seems to be picking on HIS sisters, not the new ones. Is he just being a cocky teenager (he is only 16 weeks old) with his girls, but knows that the older trio are the top of the heap. Will he settle and start to look after them all, rather than bully them? Or do cockerels just boss evryone about eventually?
Be pleased to know, thanks

Hi,
I've noticed most young cockerels can behave like this.At least, all the ones i've hatched out have.I think it is because he isn't looking at his sister's as sex objects yet-but competition for food etc.All of mine that have behaved like this have grown out of it naturally.

He is still young and not ready to assert himself yet over the older hens, what he is doing is just asserting himself over his female siblings. Give him time and he will no doubt be top cock! :D
