hi
One of my bluebells has died in less than twelve hours from being fine and showing no symptoms of any description i've just gone to lock them in for the night and she has died.I noticed she was very quiet this afternoon at 2.30 all the chucks were outside but she was sat indoors not moving but like i mentioned before showing no symptoms of anything.Has anyone any ideas, this is my first loss.

Hi beechnut

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. I'm very new to keeping hens myself so can't give you any clues about the cause but I'm sure someone with some experience will be along with some info soon.

Oh, how sad. I can sympathise as one of mine died a couple of weeks ago & just the same, showed no visible signs of anything wrong other than being a bit quiet.

Apparently chooks don't have much inbuilt survivor instinct & quite often 'give in' if they're feeling ill. I hope the others are OK, keep an eye on them, just in case.
