Well we will keep breeding them Brahmist. But it needs someone to pick the breed up again. In the past someone has spent years developing the breed but in the last few years they have all but died out. One of the problems is show stock. If people aren't getting the results they lose interest and there is a breeder in Wales, not on the register, who picks up all the Trophies and won't let his stock go to anyone at all. Also they have recently changed the show colouring requirements, which ruled out half the breeding stock in one go! We have got both colours and prefer the one that's been disallowed for show. At some stage we will need to bring Wyandottes to France for new blood as well.
You could go over to Oswestry and pick up the other cockerel plus some hens and start. I can give you all the contact details you need. You will need some new blood in that line because, although they are great show stock they are a bit smaller than I was expecting, but ours are quite big. It's the hens that give the size and the cockerels that give the colour. That's what I was told by an extremely experienced breeder in Cheshire anyway. Hope he's right as our cockerel is small but a good colour.
