Black copper maran hatching

I've just hatched some Black copper maran eggs, which I bought from auction. All the eggs were a very dark mahogany colour and 90 per cent hatched. However 3/4 of the chicks are black with a bit of gold on their fronts and three are totally gold. All the photos I've seen show black and gold combo - not gold on its own. Have I been sold half-bred chicks or are the gold ones pure Black copper marans ? I've never hatched this breed before.

i just bought some maran eggs. black cuckoo and blue only just put in inc but hope i get as high a hatch as yours
