Hello all

we have had some poorly chickens which started with a cold and then became a chest infection, we visited our local vet who prescribed a course of baytril, a week later and they are fine and fit.

We was told not to eat any eggs for 28 days as you don’t want baytril in the human system, my question is would it be safe to feed any of these eggs to our dog ?

Thanks in advance

Our vet says 7 days after course has finished at which time, after being ill, they haven't started laying again yet. On the rare occasions they have laid I've eaten the eggs for breakfast. No ill effects. Still OK for infections on penicilin but wife allergic to penicillin so she avoids eating the eggs. Sure your dog will be fine. But to be absolutely safe, but not waste them, I would scramble them and feed back to the treated hens.
