Can anyone recommend any good toys for bantams?

Mabel is really noisy to the point that the neighbours have started complaining! Distraction seems to be the key, and she enjoys pecking cauliflower, but just wondered if some toys might help? They're free range but there's not a lot to peck at in the garden as they've eaten most of it already! ;)

How about a handsome lavender Pekin rooster ? Keeps mine quiet, and is locked up in disgrace at present for fighting with next door rooster so am tempted to offer him out... Not really, he is adorable, although next door rooster probably thinks otherwise.

I've fenced off sections of my garden to let the green stuff grow then I'll let them in at different times of the year. I've also asked my neighbour to chuck his grass clippings over the wall and this keeps mine entertained. I'll also turn over a few sq yards of soil and let them scratch and dig for worms.

hi
I hang my greens up on a rope( cabbage coli broc) takes them a lot longer to eat it with it swinging around and keeps them busy.have also been told that they will peck and play with cd's if hung up but have not tried it myself

I tried that with my hens and they didn't give the cd's or the broccolli a second look. My friend said his hens love rice but my welsummers wouldn't touch it. The orps on the other hand barely let it touch the ground and then it's gone. They all go bonkers for bread though. Maybe I should dangle a hard loaf of bread and they can play with that!

I think it's a case of whatever works. I tried a few different things and they didn't seem too bothered but they've always laid and had plenty of stuff to scratch amongst so I assumed they were always happy enough

Sounds gorgeous but I think the neighbours would well and truly revolt if we did that!!

There's something Flytes of Fancy sell called a 'boredom buster'. Its a very hard ring made from seeds & molasses which you hang up for them to peck at. Mine loved it but it's not cheap, kept them happy for a few days though ;)

Sounds yummy!

For the past couple of days I've taken to carrying Mabel around with me when I muck out - she gets so noisy and exciting when she sees me. It seems to do the trick, bless her (anything to quieten her down). Am hoping she'll grow out of it soon. Poor neighbours!

Ah Bless her..... Do you pop her in your pocket, or is she nestled down your coat?

Just got home and caught my son, cuddling his "Nutmeg" Pekin in a fluffy towel...... he's 14 and you would think it'd be uncool to nurse chickens? He then told me both Mollie and Tillie D'uccle had also had a cuddle. They were all then treated to a handful of grapes.......

Think we have all gone soft.......

They are so adorable, it's hard not to! She's been cuddled down my coat - wonder if they do baby slings for chickens? Now I am going soft!!
