Hi , I am new to poultry keeping , Last wekkend i got 4 Wyandotte bantam hens one of which laid a tiny little white egg today :-)17 It's about a third of the size of a medium chicken egg..Can anyone tell me if this about the right size and colour for the breed ?

Hello, and welcome to the forum :) , if they are only young birds then the eggs will be small- as they get older there will be less eggs but they will be bigger- bantams can lay very small eggs. Wyandottes normally lay a cream/light brown egg- not white.
regards, David :)

Thanks very much for the info , They are young birds but the egg was white and tasted so nice

iv had tiny little inch eggs from one of mine but after just a fue weeks they about an inch an half mine just mixed bantams i dont know why laying what yet

Hello there, I keep 6 Wyandotte bantams on the allotment. The eggs are all different sizes and shapes. The largest I would estimate to be equivalent to a small large fowl egg, the smallest is about half this size.
As a previous contributor says they do get bigger as the bird gets older. ;)

Hi and welcome to the poultry forum, congratulations on purchasing your Wyandottes. Yes fresh "home made" eggs taste so good dont they. Eggs will get larger as the birds age.
