Hello everyone this is my first time on a forum so hello from Buffalo Mo. I have Bali he or she is gray and white the tuff is white and there is a drop feather. My question is, "Do I have a drake or hen"? and I have a Indian Runner who is fawn and white with a very soft quack . Also 2 harlequins ducks one is white with some color and the other is very colorful. I recived my duckies as very special gift,I raised them from ducklings. What are the color of their eggs? and do they winter well our pond sometimes freezes. I worried about them for the winter, so any input is welcome~Debbie

Hello! Welcome :)
Do you mean a dropped wing feather? If so this is angel wing, or slipped wing and due to a nutritional deficiency as a duckling.
You can only sex them from the quacks, how old are they? A male when picked up with have a raspy soft voice and a female with have a very loud QUACK!
They do fine with cold but will need water in winter and also safety from predation if they cannot hang out on the pond at night.

Hi, you can also sex them by vent sexing, but only do this if you know someone who can do it properly, also males have a feather or two near the end of there body they curls up. As for your pond freezing up, mine does that as well as most ponds will, you will just have to break the ice every morning for them.

Thank you so much for the information now I know that both my Bali and Harelquin both have feathers curling up :) near the end of their body's.

Thank you so much for answering me the feather is on the side of his head we call it a drop feather :) They are 5 mos old and my 2 females are laying eggs. That is one thing I worry about is the predators at night. His quack is very very soft

Ooo, drop feather, not seen that, can you post a picture? It is molting season though :)
If they have drake curls they will be boys :)
They will get taken by a predator 100% if they don't get locked away at night as they can't fly.
