Hi,
My friend has some pekins that have bald, crusty heads. In that pen, 2/3 are like this so I suggested she isolate the other one. She thinks it's the cockerels, but I think it must be an attack of something or other. What do you think?

I'd suggest taking pics and posting them here. If she has hens in with cockerels it may well be them pulling out the feathers. What is her ratio?

I've had the occasional Pekin who has a lack of feathering on their heads. Just the redness from the comb tends to cover the area.

If they are sore but scabbed over and healing well I'd probably leave them be and just keep an eye. I'm sure your friend will be able to see if any of the hens get new 'wounds' and will be able to treat them accordingly.

Thanks, Snifter,
The ratio is 2 cockerels to 3 hens, and there are no wounds, just scaly skin - I'll try and get some pics.
Thanks.
