This is a message for UK breeders of Autosexing breeds:
As the majority of you will know, the Autosexing Breeders’ Group within the Rare Poultry Society (RPS) has been going from strength to strength over the past few years, largely due to the increased support of new and established breeders. The aim of the RPS is to foster breeds which do not have their own breed clubs, until a time where they gain enough momentum to leave and form their own society. It has been suggested that the time has come for the reforming of the Autosexing Breeds Association (ABA). This is a historic group which encompassed the Autosexing breeds when they were at the height of their popularity, but unfortunately was disbanded and the breeds therein incorporated into the RPS when support dwindled.
The formation of the ABA would provide a new medium in which the Autosexing breeds could thrive, and where their promotion, conservation, and heritage would be key concepts. Therefore, it is the aim of the Autosexing Breeders’ Group within the RPS, to ask for their probationary year at the AGM in November 2014 at the National Poultry Show in Telford. This would lead to a year-long probationary period where the ABA could get the club affairs in order, and –providing the year goes well – leave the RPS in November 2015, reforming the ABA officially.
The ABA would cover all standardised Autosexing breeds, as in the 6th Ed. Of the Poultry Club of Great Britain Standards. These are:
