Auto sexing chicks

HI Everyone.

I have two cream leg-bar cockerels what hens can I have that will give me auto sexing chicks other than my cream leg bar hen.

I would much prefer to have to dispatch the cockerels at a day old rather than having to sort out the problem later

Thanks for the links.

I understand that the pure breeds which are auto sexing like the cream leg-bars you can tell but what if you cross a leg-bar which something else. Does the chicks show the same colours like the father in my case the cream leg bar or be like any other normal chick you can't tell untill tehy are older.


Has anyone done this before?

It depends what you are crossing with what. I don't know of any Cream Legbar crosses. Generally speaking you can cross 'gold' colours with 'silver' colours (like Rhode Island Red X Light Sussex) and have Sex Linkage but they are a hybrid and will not breed true. Cream Legbar are a true autosexing breed and will continue to breed true.
