Hi I have just been given 3 new chickens Cream lagbars They are beautiful and they came in a group of 3 apparently they were sexed and we were told it was one cock and 2 hens they are approx 6 weeks from point of lay although when I saw them one is grey (the cock) and 2 brown orange and grey but one of the "hens" has rather yellow legs and her comb is redder and bigger than the other one and to me "she" looks more like a "he". I have enclosed a picture if anyone could give me their opinions I would really appreciate it. Am so excited I am going to get blue eggs!!!!!!
Many Thanks
Sheryl

Thanks David I thought it was my dad went and bought them for me and the breeder said they had been sexed and they were 2 hens and the grey one was a cock but as I have been doing my research for some time on the internet and watching your predictions, when I saw the yellow legs and the red comb straight away I thought it was a cock. Do you think that the other one (the grey) is definately a cock if you can see him in the pics and do you think the other one is a hen? Also last question then I will leave you alone :D Is it true that I am to look for yellow legs for a cock?
Kind Regards
Sheryl

Hi, legbars come in three colours- gold, silver and cream- only the cream has a crest and lays blue eggs- the silver bird is a cock as far as i can see- but it will not produce blue egg layers. The other two don't seem to have any crest at all- and both sexes of cream legbars have yellow legs.If you can post some pics of the "girl " and the silver cock i can have a better look.
regards, David :)

Hi thanks again for all the advice. I have enclosed a few more pictures for you to look at. I really want the blue egg layers and as my dad paid £45 for the 2 x hens and 1 x cock (which we didnt really want he was talked into not splitting them up!!) I think it may be a better idea to take them all back tomorrow before they get settled. :( especially if they may not even lay the blue eggs

i think you have two arthurs &one martha, two seeem to have bigger combs and start of sickle shaped hackle feathers

Thanks again for all your replies. They are such lovely birds I think I will keep them for a few more weeks and see of they crow. The place that we got them from says that is fine and he will change him to a her if they are both cocks. Its strange as we have 3 leghorns and they are so much more timid than the 2 cocks! If we were to keep one of the cocks would you advise to keep the red one rather than the silver one then if we have chicks will they be blue egg layers? If they arent going to lay blue eggs they guy we bought them from said he will take them back also so if they do happen to be a hybrid..... time will tell.
Thanks Again
Sheryl
