Hi I have 6 chicks 4 white and 2 brown.....unfortunately unsure of the breed... and after seeing the magic way David and others can tell the sex just wanted to put a couple of pictures on to see if there was any way you could give me an idea if I have ladies or boys!!!! I think they are about 3 weeks old....
Many thanks
Sheryl x :D

Hi, hard to tell at the moment but the white ones look like boys :( and the brown ones girls :) - if you can find out what the parents are, they could be sex linked
regards, David :)

I'd agree with Davidd there.

Although in the second pic down the chick in the bottom left hand side doesn't appear to be reddening up. Small chance a girl but if sex linked then not ;) Could also just be the angle of the head and in other shots its more clear to tell.

Thanks for that. loads of boys!! Oh well I could do with one more cockrell....but 4? The place I bought them from has said that they will take them back if they are cockrells although I have put them in with a broody hen and she has fallen in love with them so I cant take them yet. How can you tell? What do you mean reddening up? Is it the comb? They all tend to be rather nosey little things although the brown ones just want to scratch and eat rather like my own hens, so the signs are there although one white one is really greedy like the brown ones so fingers crossed we have a white hen.... I will let you know.
Thanks again
Sheryl x
