Appleyard ducks

Hi. I have two Apple yard drakes, which keep picking on one of my chickens, is this normal? Also if I get a Apple yard duck would this cause a problem with having two drakes.

Hi Andy
Yes this is normal at this time of the year, they would pick on an elephant if there was one around!
I would suggest unless you get 3 or 4 females best to leave them as they are or a female would get terribly harassed!
I have two drakes who are very similar to this currently! They will calm down in a couple of months

Thanks Zo. I think I will give up on the idea of getting a duck and leave things has they are. Thanks for the info. It was very useful to me.

I would keep the 2 drakes away from the chickens if you can. I had to seperate my 2 from the chickens as was worried they would damage them. One of them even tried it on with the cockerel :shock:
