hi i could do with some advice my appleyard has just laid her second egg and i have noticed blood on the floor is this normal, my chickens didn't bleed and i am worried about her, i only have one male and one female could he hurt her when they mate, she often squeaks when they do mate, so i am worried he does hurt her. but the bleeding is worrying has anyone any advice on what i should do or is there anything that i could give her.
they are free all day and at night i shut them in, will he pester her in the night as she will not be able to get away i could leave them out in an enclosure where she will have more room to escape from him, i have watched them in the day and he does not seem to bother her to much it's only when they get on the pond that he seems to want too mate with her.
hope this makes sense and someone has some advice on what i should do.
thank you.

Hello, they should be fine together- especially if out all day- dont worry too much about the blood- sometimes they do bleed a little when first starting to lay- as long as there is not too much blood and she is acting/ looking normal.
As spring comes in the drakes do get very naughty- it's just normal- you could try and find another duck or two to go with them which would even out the pressure on the duck. Having said that i have muskovies and a single pair of Abacot rangers and they are fine- they mate every morning in the water but he doesn't hassle her all day. Water mating is normal so dont worry about that. Enjoy your ducks :)
regards, David :)
