Hi
I have a cuckoo pekin cockerel in with a group of black and lavender pekin girls (his ladies have both gone broody). Can anyone please tell me what I am likely to get if I were to hatch any of these eggs. I read online that putting a cuckoo cockerel to a black hen is a good way of keeping the barring strong, is this true, or will I just end up with black chicks, which I think is the likely outcome from the lavender?
I bought a book on genetics, but to be honest it's as clear as mud & I'm more confused than before.
Be interested to hear what you experienced breeders know.
