I can't always get organic grower/finisher pellets for chooks,so last time tried a bag of farmgate rearing pellets. The pellets are huge, and the young pekin bantams I've got are struggling with them. The ones that are 2 big for them to eat, they put down, then select another one and try again, doing this until they find one small enough to eat.If they can get to the organic layers pellets, they scoff those as if they are starving  .
When I went to get my ducks some pellets, they are Allen and Page Duck/Goose grower finisher pellets. These are a lot smaller than than the Farmgate rearer pellets,(that are clearly mis-labelled and meant to be elephant food) .
Would it be ok to feed bantam cooks(pekins)on the duck/goose pellets that are as small,or smaller than the organic range?I'm assuming it isn't,as presumably, the nutritional requirements are different.

Hi Lydia,

I don't have a bag or I would check the ingredients but normally, the only difference I've seen is they don't contain ACS that is added to the chick / growers. They may be slightly more balanced to waterfowl but I think you'd be OK.

Thanks Tim,I think the bantams will find the duck ones easier to eat, with out having to search through the food, hopefully they won't waste as much.
The ducks eat anything, which is great regarding duck food/pellets,not so good when it comes to newspaper, polythene, crisp packets, any bit of rubbish.....maybe they wouldn't actually eat this stuff, but I'm constantly trying to pull it out their beaks.I'm begining to think I've got albatross and gannet hybrids....not ducks  .
