Hmm! Just realised that the new birds I have chosen to get next year are all feather -footed! Silkies, Brahmas and Salmon Faverolles - how did I manage that?!! AND I always said at the beginning of this exercise that I wouldn't want feather- footed chucks! How spooky - do you think I 'm a glutton for punishment ? Perahps I could just march them through a footbath of vaseline each month - I read the other day that baby oil is good too.

I think you'll only be in trouble if they constantly have wet or muddy ground to be on.My pekins and sablepoots come in daily and spend ages in their sand bath, drying their leg feathers.
Once a month,I've started to paint their legs with liquid parrafin,as a deterrant to scaly leg mites.I make sure their legs are dry first ;) .
You've selected some gorgeous breeds,so go for it.

---- I have different sorts of feathery footeds--never had a problem due to this. The one I get repeated leg mite problems is one of my few non featheries ! Ros
