I have always had a thing for ducks and last week was offered a male who was the only survivor following a fox attack. I have been told to feed him layer pellets but, i have read that they also like wheat and other various foods. Your advice for a newbee would be very much appreciated. I will shortly be getting him a mate.

Thanks in advance. :?

Yes ducks do love wheat! Mine have 50:50 in the winter when the ducks have stopped laying. Add a little to their diet will be fine this time of year, just depends on the duck if she is laying or not, like hens ducks need the calcium for their eggs.

What breed is your drake? :D

To be honest i don't know i will try and attach a photo. He is dark brown with a white front and green head and neck................no luck with the attachment, not quite sure how to do it

If you have only the 1 male it would be better to feed grower's pellets. He dose not need the extra calcium etc that is in layers pellets
