Apple Cider Vinegar....... (ACV)

I am Zubair from karachi Pakistan..... I m new in Broiler poultry . This year i hv marketed 4 floks. Mostly i remained in CRD problems, dont know y?
I am also new in this site. I have read about ACV . I hv few questins about it .
1. As preventive measure how we can use this ACV, means at what rate/ dose etc.
2. what is to be the minimum age of chick when it should be started and at which rate/ dose and for how many days.
3. if unfiltered ACV is not avaiable, can we use purified ACV available at super market for kitchen use?
4. If YES to No 3. at what rate (ml/lit of water) the purified ACV should be used.
5. If we use frequently ACV......even then is there need to use any antibiotic for the same purpose?

Thanks / Regards

Hello Zubair,

A warm welcome to our forum.

We frequently use ACV in the UK on hobby flocks. I will say now - my knowledge of commercial broiler production is very limited!

I hope this will answer some of your questions though:

1. As preventive measure how we can use this ACV, means at what rate/ dose etc.
The dose rate recommended is usually 2% in water for adults. Chicks and growers 0.5% in water. Personally though I give a little more than that to growers though.
2. what is to be the minimum age of chick when it should be started and at which rate/ dose and for how many days.
I use it from day old chick upwards.
3. if unfiltered ACV is not avaiable, can we use purified ACV available at super market for kitchen use?
No - during the purification process, most of the goodness is removed - it must be raw / unfiltered.
4. If YES to No 3. at what rate (ml/lit of water) the purified ACV should be used.
No to 3 ;)
5. If we use frequently ACV......even then is there need to use any antibiotic for the same purpose?
ACV has mild antibiotic effect but I would definately take veterinary advice about using antibiotics if necessary and take precautions... considering broilers are for food and there will be withdrawal periods after using antibiotics.

Good luck and let us know how your flocks go when you use ACV.

Hi Tim....... regards

Thanks

Zubair
