i feel really really really bad :( :( an sick to tell you the truth , tonight i was cleaning the run and snapping of small bits of sycamore saplings which are growing out of the tree stumps within the run i had already locked the girls away into the extension but some saplings were growing out from under old stumps i have in there { for the girls to play on } so i desided to move them but by this time i let the girls out as they can get the bugs from under these logs well i had one up at an angle about 20 inches from the ground and its really heavy and i dropped it right on top of one of my girls :o :o :o :o totally by accident i didnt even know she was there omggggggggggggg she fell over and could not move her legs her beak was open and her breathing was really heavy so i called my friend and said will you cull a chicken for me right now as i think i have really injured her { she was fulling everywhere and the other girls were attacking her badly } but he said i had more then likely shocked her completely an bruised her badly but to put her away somewhere quiet , her breathing settled and she walked a bit with a little limp but seemed ok after about 20 mins by which time i was pretty much crying now shes in the plastic coop which is waiting to be converted for the chicks as i have no where else to put her i pray she will be ok she was eating some corn when i left .

Poor you, poor girl.I am sure you have done the right thing putting her to bed quietly alone. If she managed to walk and breathing etc improved she may well be shocked, battered and upset but not seriously injured.Ihope some rest/sleep and time will let her recover, I hope she's better in the morning.I just feel if badly injured she would have gone downhill rather than improve in that time.I think you may need exactly the same treatment! Hope you are both better after a sleep---please let us know. Ros

If it's any consolation, it happens to all of us. Time will tell but you're doing the right thing at the moment.

i shut one of my boys in the door and damaged his leg. he now walks with a limp but it never slows him down

i did the same to a cuckoo pekin boy grower :(
but he got better :)

shes still alive and seems bright but she will have a limp for a while now i think , as long as she eats today to keep her strength up she should pull though .
she was the first thing on my mind this morning when igotup at 4,15 not omgggggg am back to work after 12 days of  just got to pray my maran doesnt get of the eggs today and decide to pick on her but i will pop home at 10 am to check her .

if its any comfort ive lost the hamster over the weekend by leaving the door open. whoops! no sign of him anywhere. we all have accidents x

shes eating , drinking and moving around but her tail is still very down and her poo is not nice but if i had damaged her internally surely there would be blood coming from her vent ?? and if her leg was broken or even what i suppose would be the hip bone she wouldnt be standing walking or anything would she .

Thats great! I am sure if she had serious internal damage she would be a lot worse now and the same goes for any breaks ! :D :D :D :D Ros

i just hope she isnt trying to produce any eggs i washed her bum tonight and it was messy again within 30 mins , if she doesnt improve by the weekend i.e her poos and tail lifting up to where its meant to be then i might think about letting her go so after printing this no doubt she will pick up  .
i sat in with the girls tonight on a bucket and it was peacefull but i kept on saying sorry to all of them for hurting their sister and one made a noise just like a turkey it made me laugh , but my run is big enough to spilt into 2 main runs so the 14 girls that are fine at the mo can stay within the main area which is big enough and the maran and poorly girl { who may become aunty to the chicks } can stay in the area that i class as the qunatine and extension areas all these areas are fenced with doors that can be left open or shut well this is wether or not the main group will except poorly girl again if she does get better .

i hate it when things like that happen, ages ago I caught a growers neck when I dropped a pophole  Luckily was only winded & was nearly 4 when she died. Hope your hen is feeling a bit better in the morning.
