A Big Hello from Cheshire

Have posted a few replies to questions but thought I would just say a quick hello to everyone.

I have had poultry and ornamental waterfowl for the past 20 years.
I also have 3 cats (and no social life!!!!).
I love my birds but unfortunately had the misfortune and upset last year (358 days ago) of having 30 ducks stollen! So my poultry & ducks now live in a hi-tech secure area (cameras, quad beams and many many lights!!).
I have around 30 different breeds of Ornamental Waterfowl and many breeds of Poultry.

Hi Sue,

Better late than never eh!!!! .
Had spotted you on the forums,with sound advice for a lot of us.Very sorry that you had 30 of your ducks stolen.Can't and don't want to imagine the trauma that incident would cause you .Hope that it never happens again,although,with added security hopefully that will deter any possible thieves.

There have been a number of thefts in the area recently, but on a positive note one of the names being "bantered around" as a main poultry thief was caught red handed at Martin Mere and was sentenced at Preston Crown Court the other day. (Justice finally caught up with him). The person involved lives in an ex council house in Wigan and was a member of the WBA. He was pushing a pram around the grounds of Martin Mere and catching ducks then putting them in the pram, then taking them back to his car parked in the car park, staff caught him picking up a ne-ne and followed him. Inside his car were many boxes each full of ducks with their rings on.

I haven;t heard what sentance/fine he received but I do hope they threw the book at him.

What goes around certainally comes around!!!

Hopefully it wasn't his first offence,then the judge would hopefully be stricter.
Really pleased he was caught,years ago,a woman in cheltenham was walking her dog.It chased some wild ducks and unfortunately wouldn't stop when she called it.Because she was spotted and reported and was in a public park(owned by the local council)she was very heavily fined and her dog had to be kept leashed and muzzled.
As she wasn't deliberatly intending harm to the ducks hopefully he will be in more trouble.
