30ltr Drinker

I have just bought one of those BEC 30ltr Drinkers and no matter at what stage I tighten the screw top down the tray underneath starts to fill up and overflow. Has anybody else had this problem or is it just me doing something wrong? 19

Are these the new tripod drinkers Bonzodog? Just looked on the web site and they look the business. Says the little key at the bottom is in place when you fill the barrel. Then screw the cap on. This should give an airtight seal -is the seal intact on the cap? Then fit the barrel and release the key. Water then flows into the bowl until the end is covered and a vaccumn in the barrel keeps the water in. So it can only be the seal on the cap if this is the unit you have.

I'm going to Catton Game Fair next weekend and I will look out for them.

I don't find them that easy but it is a knack. Make sure the filler cap is on tight. I never use them inside although I have big internal pens as they create a lot of damp even when working well..

hi ive got one they only work if all the seals are intact one at top under filler cap one at bottom on outlet they work best outside must be on a level standing also when filling the outlet must be covered with method provided i lost mine so i now use a cork only downside is getting water bowl out can be tricky and hens scratching can fill them up with debris so need cleaning out every other day.uncle fox

Thank you people for your help. Yes Chrismahon, it is one of the new plastic tripod drinkers with the plastic key. I have been told that you have to let the water start running out before you tighten the top down and that should stop the overflowing so I shall give it another go. The other downside of the unit is that you cannot get the water tray out to clean it as it is permanently fixed between the legs, I must admit I'm not too impressed with it.
I have one of the other 30ltr tripod drinkers that has the bung at the bottom and if I can't get to grips with this new one then I'll get another one of those.
