hello members, new kid on the block here

Horsey people usually want the square bales - but I agree, it's getting harder to find. I found some nice chopped barley straw last year that has been fantastic. I would try asking in equine shops - sometimes there are signs on the side of the road and just keep phoning around the local farms...

    spindly legged turkeys

Wheat is approx 10% protein - very low for turkeys.. I would think about feeding some higher protein scraps if formulated feeds are not available. Egg, seeds (like sunflower) Milk (perhaps mixed with scraps like bread?). For youngsters in the short term I would boil and mash eggs for them to...

A warm welcome Peter. Pleased you made it ;) I used to keep Black and Chocolate Runners (hence the black runner in the poultrykeeper logo) before I had my big stock reduction a couple of years ago. I now only breed Abacot Ranger ducks, Copper Black Marans Chickens and have 2 Brecon Buff Geese...

Hi everyone, I'm having a tidy up of blog.poultrykeeper.com and there are some spaces for more bloggers. You can write about anything poultry related and there's no harm in throwing in a few other posts non-poultry related too if you like. You can see some examples here: Beths Blog Tims...

    Cleaning out

I have 'tubs' that I lift and tip out / refill with water daily for the ducks. They soon get dirty and as soon as I refill them, the ducks come over to have a bath. They love the fresh / clean water and seeing them so happy splashing around makes the effort so worthwhile!
