Our local pet food shop stopped carrying chicken feed and the last bag i got was definitely spoiled. I don't blame them. It's a hard game but these days I have to travel a bit further to the locally owned feed shop. They always have the best stuff from local mills.

I'm wrecked. At 4am a raccoon broke into the coop and killed two of our five hens. One of our tortoises has been interested in the coop lately and I think he made enough of a hole in the chicken wire that the raccoon got in. I guess I have to let the dog sleep out back for a couple weeks now...

What a tough decision but it does sound like the right one. Especially with little ones running around. You dont want them to grow up afraid of the birds @Sundheimer

Hey @Sundheimer thanks for joining and welcome! I haven't personally had any aggressive roosters like that but I have heard of folks having to dispatch roosters with poor temperament. I don't necessarily agree with that practice so I'd like to think there's other solutions but maybe someone else...

I just found 6 eggs in the coop ! I think the combination of switching to a higher quality food and moving the coop helped. Thanks all for the tips and insights! I'm so excited as the price of eggs here is definitely creeping up
