I've seen a lot of people use colored zip ties for chicks. That seems to work reasonably well and isn't terribly expensive. You will have to change them often as they grow. Wing bands can also work but again you have to keep an eye on them as they grow and their feathers come in.

Does anyone else have direct experience in dealing with raccoons? They're so crafty - it's a real challenge

Yeah, I do but maybe I need to be more consistent. I just have a small shallow pan they can drink out of. I'll get something a little bigger and make sure it's always full. You're not the first person to say fresh water is key

Ok I need some tips for my wild bird feeders. I have a seed tray, a tube feeder, a water pan, a hummingbird feeder, and a suet cage feeder. I rarely see birds come by - like only when I put the unroasted peanuts out in the tray. Maybe I should start a whole new thread?
