    nature notes

I think the birds here are a bit earlier than usual in pairing off - I've seen some with nesting material looking very determined. I used to have bird feeders here Marigold, but stopped feeding the birds (unless the weather really is very cold) because of the number of rats I was seeing...

    Is everyone ok?

Oh, isn't she gorgeous! I wasn't familiar with Norfolk terriers- your pic was the only one I'd seen. They're beautiful little dogs, aren't they?

    Is everyone ok?

Sigh! How is it that there are 365 days in a year - but 4,760 of them are in January? ?

Aw, I'm so sorry to hear about Poppy. I'm sure she'd be delighted that you're giving another puppy the same wonderful life you gave her.

    Weather

It was so mild here today, that I forgot to light the stove! It was around 10° all day, but has now dropped to around 8. I've put the infrared panels on, which will keep me cosy this evening!

    Weather

It's lovely and bright and sunny here again today, but there's a strong, biting N/E wind, that goes straight through you for a shortcut! It's about 5°, but feels a lot colder!

I've seen a tip that I keep meaning to try, for inside car windscreens fogging up - might help with the ice too? You get a couple of old socks and fill loosely with silica cat litter, and leave them on the dashboard - the idea being that the litter soaks up excess moisture from the air, so...

That was clever of him! Aldi or Lidl are getting in thermal windscreen covers this week or next. I have one, and really recommend them. I remember my dad covering the windscreen in layers of newspaper years ago - and having to put a blanket on the engine too on very cold nights, or the car...

    Boredom busters for flockdown

Very nice! Does it make a racket in the washing machine? I've developed a real dislike of those metal ends on things like tracksuit drawstrings, because of the way they clatter around in the washing machine.

    Weather

?? I know we don't have it nearly as cold - or as wet! - as the UK is having, but it's plenty cold enough for me! Daytime highs of around 3 to 4°C, dropping to about -1 or -2 after dark. I've seen some on the news about the horrendous flooding in parts of the UK, and now more artic...

There's a Pet Crematorium near me. It opened a year or two ago. They can handle anything up to, I think, the weight of a shetland pony or thereabouts. You're very brave, Marigold, to dig Poppy's grave. It's one last gesture of love and care for her. A thank you for all she's given you over...

Oh, Marigold, I'm so very sorry. It's awful when we have to say goodbye to our furry companions. ? Will be thinking of you tomorrow. x

It's different, but with a bit of practice, I find it easier to use on my phone than the previous incarnation. How's the weather with you, Hen Gen? It's been mild enough here, but very wet and windy!
