I think I'll try a 127mm drill on the rear boundary wall as an experiment. If I can make a jig for it so its easy to do anywhere I think I may advertise a hedgehog hole making service. Signed the petition - a very good idea and will ask our ecologist what is happening already in planning. Do...

    Burnt Bridges

I think Ive just cooked my goose on Chicken Keeping UK but snapped when someone posted about whether it was a necessary to mash sardines before feeding them to chickens. I broke (and mentioned something about puffins being under threat from surfboarding chickens.) Its really good that there are...

    Ospreys 2020

Good to see the two Glaslyn chicks having some lunch a minuet ago. Then looked in on 5F and checked out earlier - A traumatic morning with the wind! Blew Dylan clean off but 5F hung in there. They've tidied up since. Is fishing difficult in this wind? (Seems Aran has caught a fish but... )

Just out of interest here is the end result of the cards. Lemon shellac is wonderful stuff for that antiquated look!

Oh well, you have to try to learn! The colours were a bit lazy - thought it would be easier to mix a light tone on the go but it isn't!

Cheers! I wont make this a blow by blow account - The print came out pretty well (though I think I will have to make a bigger barren, size the paper and wet the paper just a little more.) Feeling a bit more confident that a run on the cards is ready to go.

Hey, got both images to load. I think the site update may have fixed that. The first image is a normal playing card and the classic Hanafuda deck. There are 48 of them all different and quite small. The colour block behind failed due to registration. But there were about 4 blocks times 6...

Anyone recognise the inspiration for this? Hiding for some well deserved peace and quiet in the oak tree last year? Of course, it will be better viewed when inked up and on paper and I'll let you know when I get the paper properly 'sized' (experiments needed) and, oh so hopefully, comes out OK...

It was Lulu. The others are all peering in to look at it like - Whoa! You laid an egg!

    Batten down the hatches

The main event here was at about 2:00pm when it got pretty dramatic for 10 mins with a howling gale and enough rain to flood the garden. Blew my scaffold plank over that was leaning against the wall (silly place to leave it really!) But that was all - chickens hunkered down in the corner of the...

The CLBs are still freeloading but showing ever increasing signs of an egg before too long. Linden is looking forward to the spring, Oh the delight of a senior cockerel -...

    Lulu the Terrible

Just had a funny episode in the run this afternoon. They had been out in the garden (next doors garden actually while I was digging out the last bit of foundations.) I was about to pour concrete so called them all back in with some mealworms. A couple of minutes after closing the door there...
