    So, how're your birds?

I keep a lot of leave for this time of year for days like today when it's freezing and snowing on snow and nothings moving except a few 4 x 4's and tractors - so's to be sure the birds are OK. The muscovies are happy, flying around and chirping and laying eggs. Mrs Goose is stiffening up now...

    Goose limping

My goose has been limping for a few days. Today she has been lying around not eating though I moved her onto good grass, tried dandelion leaves & wheat but no interest. She did do a run & flap up the paddock with her gander. I dosed her with levamisole wormer yesterday evening & had hoped to see...

    American Buff Geese

The article & the geese photos are very very appealing. The article describing their character & quirks so closely sums up the geese that I know. I need a warning finger very occasionally & get the apologetic look exactly, or a twinkle in the eye "only joking". I took a gander to a lady in...

    When are the waterfowl shows?

Yes you're right I should have said Chick Pea yellow = Erbsgelb it has the addition of the sex linked brown gene so the ducks are deeper yellow and the speculum brownish. The drakes look v similar. www.runnerduck.net/new_colours

    When are the waterfowl shows?

I'm looking forward to the photos too. Abacot Rangers would be my next choice of duck if I do not control myself (oh after a couple of muscovy ducks for broodies) and it looks like I'll be breeding the Chick pea (Blau-gelb?) Runners next year that are standard in europe but not here yet.

    When are the waterfowl shows?

I visited the Devon & Cornwall show last year & would recommend it. It has different breeders showing than Solihull so you see some different birds. The lighting was good and the natives cheerful & keen to help.
