I live I West Cornwall and am setting up a bantam coop. We keep normal sized poultry but would like bantams and will be keeping them separate. As a breed we would like to have Faverolle bantams.
Does anyone have any Faverolle bantam eggs or chicks preferably in the the South West.
We’re having a go at incubating after an eight year gap. Previously our heat source was the traditional heat lamp suspended on some string. I still have it and it works fine, but these heat plates seem all the rage now.
Is it still ok to use the heat lamp or not? And what are the advantages of...
I hope it’s ok to request a “Wanted?”
If so I’m looking for an RCOM King Suro 20 incubator f anyone has one that they would be willing to sell?
Thank you.

Can anyone advise me on what to get for a reliable set up please?
I was looking at the Mole Valley Farmers offer yesterday on Energisers. They have 33% off at the moment and was thinking of getting one.
I’ve had chickens for years but have only just had ducks for the first time. They share a large secure run with our chickens and get on really well. In the winter I primarily feed my hens on mixed corn which the ducks are having as well.
Can anyone advise me on what else I should be feeding the...
We’ve had chickens for a number of years and only recently had some ducks. I have two houses in the run to which the chickens have always stuck to one in particular whilst the other one remained vacant until we had our four new ducks.
I’ve given the ducks a fairly large fish pond in the joint...
Every year I raise a few chickens to replace those that pass away. Furthermore I find it a real pleasure as well to raise chickens both for me and my children.
This year I went for light Sussex eggs again and managed just two hens and two cockerels. They all look beautiful birds except one of...
I am having to replace the wooden framework to my run once again.
It measures approximately 32ft x16ft and I used 3inch square tanakised timber for the uprights and cross bars. However the have all rotted and require replacing.
As an alternative to wood for the 3rd time I like the idea of...
I notice that a couple of my chickens have what looks like a bulbous boil on their claw. Its situated at the point where their claws converge.
Its not wheeping or bleeding and appears to be on my more older birds.
Does anyone know what this maybe?

Now its time to make radical changes to my run as lots of the current posts as rotting. I have got a combination which is not recommended in that they comprise of a series of 4x2 & 2x2inch square posts.
I am hoping that my plan of 3x3 inch square will be adequate thought ideally I would...
Could anybody help me find a supplier or if someone has one unwanted re a 2ft diameter feeder hood?
There is a supplier in Scotland, but they are charging over £20.00 postage. On an item that doesn't cost that much, its not economical sense to pay for that amount on postage.
I am trying to...
If anyone has they no longer use and they would be willing to sell, please reply or text me on 07449 498650. I live near Penzance, Cornwall and would be willing to pay postage as well.

At a recent agricultural show I had a close look at these chicken controlled feeders. I was quite impressed mainly due to how much feed they can hold reducing the ammount youd have to top them up. Also they seem a good deterrant to rats eating your feed.
Does anybody else use this type of...
Walking down on our local beach last week caused me to wonder if my hens would like to peck away at the cuttlefish that had been washed up. I picked several pieces up and on arrival back home placed it in the run. A day later I could see that they they had managed to turn it the correct way up...
