weak legs

We have a lovely little baby turkey that was doing very well and seemed strong - she is nearly one month old. All of a sudden her legs seem to have given way on her and although still very lively, is eating and drinking, and chirping happily, she cannot stand up. Please advise as I am desperately hoping we can get her fit and strong again.

Do you think it was some kind of injury Carolyn? If Gaynor has dropped too far and wrenched her hip or something the resulting pain or swelling may have prevented her standing. Has she a very high perch that she uses?

No she has not been out of a box yet so she has not fallen. Some days she can stand but others she can't. It is a mystery, but today is a good day so we continue to be hopeful :)

Just a quick update. Gaynor is now fighting fit and integrating with her peers. It took her a while but she is great now, such a relief. She thinks I am her mum though as we had her indoors for a while and follows me around the garden ... sweet! I think the addition to her diet of scrambled eggs helped :D

The eggs are high in protein Carolyn. Was the feed you were using lacking in that respect? Chicks were traditionally (and still are) fed egg as part of a starter diet.
