So, not long to go to the National Poultry Show 2012. Again, being held across two halls with around 6000 exhibits!

I'm going to be there with Rupert taking photos and I have a nice trio of Light Sussex that I've hatched from Nick Smiths bloodline booked in for a sale pen but bottled out of entering the show itself thinking I would have too much to do with our photo booth.

The photos will be put into a gallery on the page I have linked to above so please come back to see them after the show :)17

We'll be there for the weekend. Feel free to tap me on the shoulder and say hello. I can't wait :D

So who's going?

My husband and I have been talking about attending this event, but it is a long way to drive and as we are mainly interested in turkeys, would it be worth the trip?

@Tygrysek75 I look forward to meeting you :)

@Foxy Would that mean you could bring a couple of Faverolles up to be photographed at some point? We're not allowed to take birds out of cages and have to ask the Stewards and they are such great subjects with that beard of theirs! ;-)

@Pamela There are usually quite a few Turkeys at the National (I'd say 2 or 3 dozen were there last year).

@ncotb Hopefully I'll get more than 10 seconds stop and say hello this time!

Look forward to seeing you all :)

Travelling could be an issue Tim?

Seriously though, I thought the Stoneleigh event last year was expensive and poorly attended compared to the later show at Stafford, which I may attend if I'm over.

Hi Margaid and bonjour Chris

Well I will be at the Fed in Stafford as well so perhaps see you there! We might be in the 'Walk in Freezer' off the main hall with our photo booth (no joke..) but we are trying to negotiate a bit better position at the moment!

After the year of the snow, it was lucky for them that they had good entry levels or financially it would have been hard I think.

Apparently the National has a record entry this year, over 6000 entries. I think they had to push prices up when they changed to the new halls. I agree, entry is a little steep.

I'm fortunate in that I don't normally pay for entry - but we don't charge for photos and there's quite a lot of work after, sorting through them and sending them out to people as well as Fancy Fowl so I suppose I work for it. ;) Two very long days by the time I travel up there and back.

That's a lot of entries Tim! You could find yourself very busy in your little photo fridge! :D

Yes I don't think it will be a problem to bring some of the birds over, maybe I could pick up a few tips myself.

Chris if you manage to make it to the Fed do let me know as I will be there too! :)99 :)99

Will do Foxy. I'll be the chap with the onions around his neck wearing a beret!

Will be there if I am over, but to be honest I rather dislike going back. So if I can find an excuse not to I will. Just felled a really tricky tree after pondering the problem for a week. Get it wrong and the corner of the house goes!. Dropped it to within a foot of target -16 metres high it was. Holidays were never this good; 20 degrees today as well!

Over 400 birds in the sale section, these will be very good quality too as they will be stock only from exhibitors! :D

Thanks Foxy. Well bring your camera with you as well then :)

Latest for the Fed is we might be able to go where we were last year, next to the information desk on the way in, provided we don't get in the way. We've got to see on the day.

I'm still taking warm clothes - just in case!
