hello :)99

well i am going to hatch some more quai eggs this week.
i have fawn, cream, silver and platinum tuxedo from one lady.
another lot which are cinnamon, tibetan, golden, rosetta tuxedo.
so hopefully i will have a lovely mix of colours and a more friendly quail then the bobwhites.
i will set these on Thursday so fingers crossed i will have a few hatch in 18 days time. will keep you updated. :D

That's great, Rita, good luck this time. It's a better time of year for a hatch now Spring is thinking about arriving. Coturnix hatch in 16 days, I believe? Following advice from a friend who has hatched hundreds, I incubated mine dry for the first 15 days and only added water when they started to pip, as in the UK especially, there's plenty of moisture in the air circulating round the incubator and if you add to the humidity it can have fatal results. I suppose this is because they've evolved to hatch in hot, dry areas and have such small eggs that the shell area is large in proportion to the contents, so extra humidity is more likely to drown the embryos.

thank you for the advice.
i did hatch some a few years ago, but they came from abroad but i did manage to hatch a few.
i will let you know how things go.
