I had to look up the age of year 6 pupils to gauge their READING ability.

It appears that the teachers can't read! One of the questions was "In which American state was the Congress Avenue Bridge found".. The teacher thought the children would not know enough about American geography to realise that Austin wasn't a state.

DUH! The text the children had to read says clearly " the Congress Avenue Bridge in the city of Austin ..." and again further in the text "Austin is the capital city of the state of Texas in the USA," which of course gives the answer.

This is a READING test so all the children (and teachers) have to do is READ!

If you want to look at some of the questions in the test they are here:- https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-65624697 Personally I think the teachers response show just ho ill-educated they are! If, as reported "Even staff "had to really think" about the answers, the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) said." then heaven help future generations of children!
