Plastic shed for Turkeys

Hi

We’re looking to get 4-6 turkeys just as pets and looking into all the housing options. Most of the ready made coops don’t seem suitable due to them liking to roost high. So I’ve been looking at just adapting a shed and I’m wondering if a plastic one would work so it’s easier to keep clean and red mite can’t hide in all the crevices etc. Has anyone done this? Is it easy enough to add ventilation and roosts in it? Thanks

Hi Rob, sorry for the late reply, I think most of us have been hiding in the "Dustbath" forum :)

When I first got my 2 ex battery hens, I bought a nice wooden coop. I also bought a second hand kids toy house, which is made of plastic/pvc and later used it as a temporary coop for the 2 additional hens I got a few months later. They would probably be good to keep out red mite and bad weather. My hens preferred the wooden hut, so I now use the kiddies play house to store their food. :)
