Update on the complicated situation at Glaslyn;

Having completed a new visitor centre and equipped the Glaslyn nest with live stream cameras, it must be very frustrating for the group when, in the absence of her returning male, Aran, Mrs G appears to be investigating the nearby Pont Croesor nest, which has no live stream cameras, and has been the focus of quite a lot of opposition from the Glaslyn group over the years.

Not to mention cosying up to Aeron about 16 years younger and now attracting the attention of LJ2 a roving male of 4 years old looking for a female. She likes her toyboys.

I gather from a friend this behaviour is quite common in USA where they have several nest platforms in close proximity, and the birds nest in colonies.

Makes for an interesting season that's for sure, at least from the centre you can see the birds on the Pont Croeser nest quite clearly with binoculars

I see Mrs G is being presented with fish by Aeron and LJ2 this evening.
Never a dull moment with Mrs G about, she will definitely go down in history as long lived, an amazing dynasty spread around the country, and a toy boy magnet.
Not to mention increasing everyone elses blood pressure

Aran is back, 08 08 08 touchdown on the Glaslyn nest 16.09. Hope Mrs G has a good excuse lined up.

At least the Llyn Brenig male that was hanging around, had his partner turn up and he has wandered back

All we need now is for Aeron's mate Blue14 to return and hopefully it will all be sorted out.

Power cuts at Glaslyn on and off today, but Mrs G and Aran have been on the nest, currently there is a skirmish going on between Mrs G and a female who could be Aeron's mate Blue 14. The men are keeping out of it and viewing from the sidelines.

If anyone wants to check out the Osprey Dahlgren Jack on You Tube it's hilarious he has a penchant for bringing stuffed toys to the nest, so far this season, a toy chicken, green frog, whale and a big pink stick

King George County, Virginia, on the banks of the King George river. I assume there must be a tip nearby where he gets these toys from, unless he does take them from gardens. The nest had to be replaced one winter as it was so overloaded with stuffed toys it nearly collapsed. Wonder if the female thought " thank God,the toys are gone" only to have them replaced

So far at Glaslyn, everyone seems to be on the right nest, but live stream is a bit dodgy

Aran and Mrs G seem to be back together on the Glaslyn nest and the live stream froze just as he was mating with her!
Here’s the link to the live stream cameras, which are a bit dodgy, but the Live Chat option gives you access to the comments from watchers with enough time to keep watching.
A bit like cricket - long spells with nothing much, just birds sitting around, and then the moment you give up, something happens!

Always the way, I saw a mating, and Mrs G very interested in the farmer moving sheep. They both mantled when an intruder (unseen) appeared. Currently asking Aran for a fish. She has got a nerve wandering back as though nothing has happened. Still full marks at her age pulling a toy boy

I hadn't realised that there were two translations on the post until I made a comment about the poor translation. This was some weeks ago when Google (the "See translation" button) talked about dogs flying down the valley having mis-translated "cywion" = chicks! The Google trnaslations are hilarious. I remember Dame Margot Fonteyn's husband got great amusement from hearing her strangely announced at functions . his favourites were: Lame Margot Fonteyn, Jane Largo Fonteyn, Dome Margot Fonteyn, Dumb Margot Fonteyn. She quipped that as she had an erratic schooling due to her fathers postings, the last one may well have been nearer the mark
