I took these last week when the birds had just turned 17 weeks, since then the Faverolle lad has grown in spades, he is much broader in only one week on!. It was a disappointing hatch to be honest, very low hatch rate and we ended up with two Andalusians hatching under a broody Sussex (one boy, one girl) and 3 Faverolles and two Andalusians out of the inucbator (two Faverolle girls, the rest boys).
The favs are really rambunctious, especially the lad who has a lot of character, all of the Andalusians are very reserved birds.

Notwithstanding your disappointment about the hatch rate they are lovely varieties. Favs are always eye catching and Andalusians are great too. They may not lay this year but that’s not such a bad thing as they can put all their energy into growing big and strong. Good luck with them.

Thanks :). Just to show how much he has grown in just over a week, I took these this afternoon. Also a photo of my moulting Silver Campines feeling sorry for themselves.

Lovely birds - I often wonder why faverolles are not more popular. The campines are super pretty too! It does me good to see birds on the range, on green grass, in the autumn with plenty of cover and mixed planting for forage, its a real contrast to Portugal where most birds are in a house with a pen of bare earth.

Lovely looking birds very striking. Nice to see them foraging about.
Swept leaves up into a big piles today and left them dotted about just to watch them having fun with them which they did
