To help with our running costs, we need to have some advertising BUT I have also created a 'Full Member' group that removes the adverts (not in Tapatalk Mobile App, they have their own Ads unless you buy their App).

If you make a donation to our running costs through a special link set up with our web host, I will add you as a Full Member for a year.

Here's how to do this:

Make a donation to our hosting through this link: https://www.dreamhost.com/donate.cgi?id=13894

Donations can ONLY be used for our website hosting.

*Please use the email address you have registered with your forum username otherwise I cannot find you as a registered user!*

I have to log in and check who has made a donation from time to time, so if you want me to add you to the group faster then email me [email protected] and let me know your username and that you made a donation.

Once added to the group, your username will appear on the Team Members page found via the members menu (top right) and when you log in, you shouldn't see any adverts :)

Thank you. I appreciate your support.

Tim Daniels.

Hi all,

I have updated the Full Member group today with users that have made a donation to our running costs since October 2019.

Thank you to everyone that has made a donation to join the Full Member group. It helps me to pay the server running costs and (drum roll....)
for the first time, the running costs were covered :)

I removed a couple of people from the group who I don't think have renewed.
Please let me know if I have made a mistake and you made a donation... I do miss the emails informing me of a donation sometimes.

If you would like to join our 'Full Member' group, all you have to do is make a small donation through this link:

https://www.dreamhost.com/donate.cgi?id=13894 and I'll add you.

As a thank you, Full Members do not have any Google Ads when viewing the forum.

Thank you once again for all your support, stay safe and well.

Tim

Thank you, Tim, for making this Forum possible. It's a great source of support for many of us, especially at these surprising and sometimes difficult times in lockdown. We are united by our love and interest in keeping poultry, but appreciate this safe space to share many other aspects of our lives with friends we may never meet, but nevertheless feel we know and trust.

Newcomers are always more than welcome, but some of you may not realise that Tim is responsible for keeping the Forum running smoothly, registering new members, and above all paying the hosting fees out of his own pocket. The only income he has for this comes from voluntary subscriptions from those of us who choose to be Full Members - who can then view the site free from annoying advertisements. The suggested rate is £10 per year, or a bit more if you can afford it - not much for a subscription to such a source of daily interest. All the money goes towards Tim's running costs and it's up to us to ensure that his generosity isn't exploited. So please use the link above and join or renew if your subscription has lapsed.

I’ve had a message from Tim, our Forum Administrator, about contributions to hosting fees.

Those of you who are Full Members (see above) will be grateful for being able to read the Forum without those pesky advertisements, in return for your annual contribution to the hosting fee that Tim has to pay out of his own pocket to keep the Forum running.
For some time, here have been problems with Dreamhost about accepting payments, but Tim’s message, copied below, explains that he hopes this has been fixed. I’m sure you’ll all agree that the subscription rates he suggest are very reasonable, in relation to what we all get from this lovely group of friends. I’d like to thank Tim, on our behalf, for all the unseen work he does to check out and register new members, solve software glitches, and to keep the Forum running for our enjoyment and information. Here’s Tim’s post. Please contribute if you can. Thank you.
As you’ll see, Tim is also working on a new version of the main Poultrykeeper website, and includes the link to an excellent article by Gail Damerow, which I will post and pin in the Incubating Hatching and Rearing section.

Hi again Virginia,

I have checked the Dreamhost donations page and it seems they still haven't bothered to completely 'fix' the issue.
What is working is if I set fixed amounts. We can have 3 options. The minimum they accept is £10 and most people gave that last time, with the exception of a couple of very generous people.

So I thought we could set the amounts at £10, £15 and £25?

The link is here: https://www.dreamhost.com/donate.cgi?id=13894

I've got the annual £155 hosting bill to pay, looking at Google Ads this year it's just short of £60 (not bad!), so if we get 10 people paying £10 that should be enough.

Would you be happy to remind people that subs are due?

In other news, I've still been really busy, but there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
I had my 2nd Jab the other week and I launched the NEW poultrykeeper website. I'm still fixing bugs...
Gail Damerow is publishing her first article on the website today, quite a 'name' for me to have on there:

I hope you're having a nice 'British' summer...

Take care,
Tim
