Hey! I'm Courage, this is my third year showing chickens in 4-H, and its really fun! Last year I bred my own chickens, but the chick's father and brothers are gone. So back to ordering from a hatchery for me!
This is what my poultry showing experience looks like so far:
Year 1: County Fair.
County fair: 1 blue laced red bantam wyandotte hen (blue for showmanship, blue and 'Bantam Best of Show' for breed), 2 white silkie cockerels (white DQ for breed - wrong combs).
Year 2: Junior Show, County Fair.
Junior Show: 2 blue laced red bantam wyandotte hens (blue for showmanship, blues for breed), 1 bantam white sultan cockerel (blue for breed), 1 standard wheaten ameraucana pullet (blue for breed).
County Fair: 1 blue laced red bantam wyandotte hen (blue for showmanship, blue for breed), 1 blue laced red bantam wyandotte cock (blue for breed), 1 standard wheaten aneraucana pullet (blue for breed).
Year 3: Junior Show, County Fair.
Junior Show: 3 (2 blue laced red, 1 buff laced) bantam wyandotte pullets (blue for showmanship, blues for breed), 1 grey Buff/Runner/Rouen cross young duck (hen).
County Fair: will be entering 3 bantam wyandotte pullets, 1 crossbreed young duck.
So that's my intro! I love showing, and wish I could do it more, but I can only show twice a year as there are no other shows that go on in this area. I'm glad to be joining this forum to increase my knowledge on chickens and ducks!
