When I went to one once to get a takeaway for my husband, I asked for free range chicken. The person serving me had never heard of it, so I asked to speak to the manager. They'd never heard of it either & when I described how regular poultry is reared, his face described a total "do I look as though I care?" expression.
Needless to say, I've never crossed the threshold of a KFC since.

but yeah free-range chicken is rare nowadays and cannot be easily found.
